I Didn’t Lose Myself- I Just Changed
This version of me deserves the same kindness and compassion I gave my old self

For a long time, I told myself I had lost who I was.
I looked at my life before motherhood and wondered where that version of me went, the one with more freedom, more energy, more space to think about herself. The version of me who could leave the house without planning, who had time to rest, dream, and just be.
Motherhood changes everything.
It changes your body, your routines, your priorities, and the way you move through the world. It can feel like parts of you disappear as you pour so much of yourself into someone else. And when you’re exhausted and overwhelmed, it’s easy to believe that you’ve somehow lost yourself along the way.
But the truth is, I didn’t lose myself.
I just changed.
I’m still here, just shaped by love, responsibility, exhaustion, and growth. The version of me now is stronger in ways I never expected. More patient. More resilient. More aware of what truly matters. Even if some days I feel tired, emotional, or unsure, that doesn’t mean I’m gone. It means I’ve evolved.
This version of me deserves the same kindness and compassion I gave my old self.
It’s okay to miss who you were before motherhood. It’s okay to grieve that version of you while also loving who you’re becoming. Both can exist at the same time. One doesn’t cancel out the other.
So if you’re feeling disconnected from yourself right now, know this — you haven’t disappeared. You’re still here, growing into a version of yourself that carries more depth, more love, and more strength than ever before.
You didn’t lose yourself.
You just changed, and that’s not a loss. It’s growth.
